Hi!
These are my (current) favourite albums of April 2025. Maybe not my favourite month for albums, but I also felt like I didn’t listen to new music as much as I normally do, work was a bit too busy.
And a playlist of one track of each album (12 songs, 38 minutes and 8 seconds).
Bb trickz - 80'z
Third album from the Spanish rapper. I like the vibe.
Beach Bunny - Tunnel Vision
Third album from Chicago indie rock trio. The title track deserves to be a mega hit.
7/10 Spectrum Culture
Chy Cartier - NO BRING INS
Debut mixtape from London rapper. Very solid.
4/5 NME
Craig Finn - Always Been
Sixth solo album from fantastic (yeah, I'm a fan!) storyteller, Minnesota born, Brooklyn based and The Hold Steady's singer. Nothing new on this album from his previous stuff, more of the same great stuff. Full of lyrics like “I never go out in the rain, and it's been raining all day”.
8.5/10 Paste 8/10 Uncut / Mojo 7/10 Glide 6/10 PopMatters
d4vd- WITHERED
Debut album from the New York singer who rose to fame in 2021 when he made montage videos of the video game Fortnite! This is a smooooth album.
4/5 Dork 3.5/5 Rolling Stone 6/10 Northern Transmissions
Florist - Jellywish
Fifth album from lovely New York minimalist folk quartet.
8.4/10 Northern Transmissions 8/10 Uncut 4/5 Far Out 7.8/10 Paste
Ghost - Skeletá
Sixth album from the Swedish heavy / arena rock band. First time since 1993 a Swedish artist (Ace of Base was the last one) tops the US album chart and first time since November 2020 a rock album does it (AC/DC last time). I’ve been enjoying rock opera hard rock in last few years, god knows why.
8/10 Paste / Classic Rock 4/5 Kerrang / NME 7/10 Glide 2.5/5 Slant
Marlon Williams - Te Whare Tīwekaweka
Fourth album from New Zealand singer and his first one with all lyrics in Māori language. Feat. KOMMI and Lorde. A beautiful album.
9/10 Clash 7/10 Uncut
Sarah Mary Chadwick - Take Me Out To a Bar / What Am I, Gatsby?
Tenth (?) album from the Australian based / New Zealand born heart on sleeve singer-songwriter. I really like her lyrics.
7.1/10 Pitchfork
Self Esteem - A Complicated Woman
Third and eagerly awaited album from the English experimental pop artist. Feat. Sue Tompkins, Moonchild Sanely (yay!) and Nadine Shah. This is a great pop album.
5/5 The Skinny / musicOHM / DIY 8/10 Record Collector 7/10 Uncut 6/10 Mojo 3/5 Guardian
Teen Mortgage - Devil Ultrasonic Dream
Debut album from the UK-formed, Maryland-based duo playing melodic sharp punk. Think it's something for me I think, sounds fun.
4/5 Dork / Kerrang!
Tennis - Face Down In The Garden
Seventh album from the Denver indie pop duo. I saw somewhere that the band have had a go at music critics or whatnot, so I don’t dare not to include them here (just kidding, I like the album, I promise!)
7.7/10 Paste 3.5/5 Far Out
H. Self - Efterskalv
Fourth album and second one in Swedish after last year's one which was one of my favourite ones of the year.
5/6 Fokus Musik 4/5 Aftonbladet
Månskensbonden - Svindel & lågtryck
Third album from the fantastic Kyro älv, Österbotten artist who sings in Finnish-Swedish (yay!).
5/6 Fokus Musik 4/5 Ung Musik
